Hitting the Reset Button

07/04/2019

I haven’t had much time to devote to blogging so far this year because of the overwhelm of uni work.

As the end of this chapter creeps closer, it feels as if 70% of the conversations I have with people my age are about frustration and fear. In fact, not just people finishing education but anyone that lives in our modern society. All you have to do is turn on the news…

It’s a daunting thought approaching the end of something major in your life, particularly when you don’t know what’s coming next. So it’s important to frequently hit the reset button by identifying what makes you happy and spending time doing that to balance out what might be bringing you down.

I’m planning to make a longer version of this, either in blog or vlog form? I’d really appreciate your feedback. 🙂

But for now, a little pick me up to beat the Sunday blues. 💙

If you’re feeling stressed, go outside. 🗾

Simply being in nature will satisfy you in a way that junk food, alcohol, cigarettes and drugs cannot do. When you go out in nature, you’ll find a sense of calm, peace and restorative energy that is comfort in its most natural form. 🙏

When I’m in nature, I become the truest version of myself. To simply sit and be with the sounds, colours and sounds all around me, I reach a state of being that is so surprisingly simple and uncomplicated. A sensation that feels like nothing but everything at the same time.

Simply being, simply observing with no judgement, not allowing the voices in your head to dictate and determine what the moment is. But instead, merely concentrating ever so slightly at what is happening all around you, accepting and appreciating your surroundings and this moment for what they are. And then, after a few minutes, you realise you’ve been in this meditative trance and that you haven’t stressed or worried about anything that you thought was important. 😮

So when you re-awaken, or perhaps, when you go back to sleep, into the mind state you were in before, you can instead consider that maybe everything you’d been fearing, worrying, or simply thinking about until now, aren’t as big a deal as they seem. In fact, are they as true as I thought them out to be? 🌝 If I was able to enter this state of calm and ultimate relaxation for a brief few moments, which required hardly any effort whatsoever, isn’t this the kind of state I’d rather spend most of my time in? 🌞

What if these voices in our heads aren’t real? What if the one truth is simply a stream of consciousness, and the observation of everything that is happening in this present moment? No interference from the past or the future. Just simply my physical vessel and the beauty of nature around me. 🍃🌻😌
