Finding Faith through Fear

16/03/2020

There is always an opportunity for positivity in any situation.

Even c-o-r-o-n-a v-i-r-u-s, the two most topical; infamous words which have quickly taken over our societies and now creating a lockdown domino effect.

May we disinfect not only our hands but our mind and soul from the autopilot mode we fall so easily into as we go about our normal every day lives.

Corona is an opportunity to turn our attention inward and evaluate what we want and appreciate what is important in our lives. Whether you are suffering from the virus or not, this is a time of collective healing and re-connection to our family, friends and above all, ourselves.

We are all entitled to our opinions, and issues of this gravity can also tear relations apart.
However I feel that of course, we must be aware of what is going on and how this epidemic progresses, but we mustn’t allow ourselves to be instilled by the mass fear + panic from the media and governing bodies.

When I (and very briefly) watch the news, the usual 3 hour breakfast programme as well as afternoon and evening programmes, now focus exclusively on Corona.  This is excessive.

Despite the halt in our every day lives, we must as much as we can try to continue going about things as normal to the best of our ability.

Becoming all consumed by the fear only contributes to feeding this collective energy. Instead, we can reflect on what is important to us, what we are grateful for, and how we can strengthen our wellbeing during these times.

We may feel helpless; incapacitated to do anything right now, but we can!

We can each be a beacon of light and shine our love, appreciation, and joy on those around us.

Remembering all the while that this is an episode amongst many in the series’ of our lives.
The world feels like an almost unforgiving place at times, but take solace in the fact that events move in cycles. I feel deeply that there will be gains on the other side of this epidemic.

So next time someone begins to dwell on c-o-r-o-n-a, replace their sorrow with this:

We can find kindness and consideration. Kindness to ourselves and to those in need in our communities.

We can nourish our bodies with clean, non-processed foods and drinks to strengthen our immune systems.

We can find enjoyment in life’s simple pleasures whilst all the attractions are closed.

We can use mindfulness to remain centred and not become too overwhelmed.

By choosing love as the answer when we don’t know the solution, we will move in the right direction.
When we can come together and prioritise happiness over despair, we can allow this situation to run its course faster without so much resistance.

Good intention and living compassionately will get us a lot further than fear ever will.

An increase in psychological wellbeing can be a boost for our physical in light of the holistic nature of our mind and body.

Remembering all the while to maintain our hygiene and making wise decisions regarding what we expose ourselves to, and what we put in our bodies.
